ricemorning: the reasons to travel, your brand journey

the reasons to travel, your brand journey

I compare a brand as a person, who needs to explore to new world.

There are two types of people in the world, one is business man, another one is artist. Business man trend to stick the reasons, logics, realities, specifics and things describable and achievable. An artist might also fall into this "business man mode".

When one got stuck in business mode, there is a wanting to leave that situation.

out little walk in farm

I went to WWOOF in a small farm in Dannevirke this March. This is amazing and it's always happening during my travel - get to know people. On my last three days leaving New Zealand, I stayed in YHA Auckland and met an interesting man.

I saw an old man in dinning room at first two nights. He is skinny in a white shirt, with short white hair and wearing metal glasses. He looked like a normal traveler. On the third day while I finished my cooking and looking for a spot, I found Gaelle sit besides him. The girl comes from French Polynesia and sleep downside of my bed. I wanted to stay with someone I know to eat dinner and do I asked if I could join the two.

Do you know what's the most boring and must-to ask question during your travel?
The answer is : Where are you come from.
One's nations, countries, experiences and all in past bringing him to this present moment, this location, is a wonder. There must be a speakable reason and if the traveler would love to share, the reason becomes a good story.

I asked him this question. However, his answer stops me to further questioning.

He said, I leave in Auckland, not a traveler.
What?He is a local and he eat and cook in the kitchen of YHA? I have lots of guessing, but I didn't ask.
He kept talking himself. He just had dinner with his son and grandchildren the other night. He would sleep at his home but before that, he would chat with travelers almost every night in YHA. He had big curiosity on why people come to New Zealand and he kept asking that for people he met.He simply wants to know it.

Is knowing the reasons behind traveling important? Are these reasons make sense to an outsider? I want to ask him why he is doing this but I did not. I am curious to know his reason but I don't think it worth to dig that out. What brings me to New Zealand already became the past and what matters is how this experiences will shape the future. This is how I define my travel. That's the artistic part of my life, unexplainable.

He is another way around.Maybe that's his artist mode and he is not doing norms things, but for inspiring and adventurers. This is his traveling.

So, when you want bring your brand to a new world, it's not necessarily in business mode as well. Also, the behind reasons are mighty strange for outsiders.

Think this is a journey for your brand.
